Stakeholders are asking the Premier to wait before making a decision about selling Cannabis NB.
The fate of the pot shops has been speculated on for months with Premier Blaine Higgs now expected to make an announcement in the coming weeks.
Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief Roger Augustine and 10 New Brunswick-based cannabis businesses have sent a letter urging Higgs not to make a decision until he has consulted with businesses, residents, and Indigenous groups. NB/MON-PETITCODIAC CAUSEWAY CLOSURE RM / CBC THURS PM
The expected closure of the Petitcodiac causeway will cause some inconviences for emergency services.
According to CBC – The completion of the bridge will require closing the causeway so the gate structure can be removed and ramps can be built, as part of a decades-long plan to restore the rivers tidal flow.
The process will start April 5th and last until October
Emergency crews like Codiac RCMP police both sides of the causeway, in the event of a delay, they will call on the Southeast District RCMP, which is based in Riverview but polices the rural areas.
Ambulance New Brunswick had considered several options to maintain services.
Either station a second ambulance in the west end of the town during peak traffic periods, or station an advanced care paramedic unit in the town during those peak traffic times.
The closure could affect fire crew response times if assistance is needed in Riverview Moncton crews and vice-versa.
