CAM – SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS
The District Education Council for the Anglophone North School District has announced they will begin live-streaming its meetings starting today.
A release by the board says parents and guardians will be able to access the meeting on the district’s website under live streamed meetings.
The DEC oversees the fuctions of the former school boards… it contains both elected and appointed members stretching from Rexton to Campbellton.
The meetings are traditionally open to the public, but pandemic measure have decreased access leading to the decision to begin livestreaming… today’s meeting begins at 5:30.

CAM – WINTER PARKING
Winter parking regulations went into effect yesterday in Campbellton.
The bylaw prohibits parking on city streets from midnight until 7am with exception of some streets where cars can be parked until 2:30 in the morning.
Those streets include Ramsay, Union, Water, Subway and Roseberry between George and Subway.
Vehicle blocking snow removal can be fined 60-dollars and towed at the owner’s expense.

Taking a look at sports….
Big win on the road last night for the Campbellton Tigers… Tobias Odjick netted a pair to lead the Tigers to a 4-1 win over the Red Wings in Fredericton.
The Pats beat the Ravens 23-17 in the late game in the NFL.

NB – COVID UPDATE V2.0
Active cases of COVID-19 in New Brunswick have grown to 22 with nine new case reported over the weekend.
Three cases were reported yesterday with six on Saturday… most were in the Moncton-region and have sparked two possible public exposure notices.
People who visited GoodLife Fitness at Moncton Junction Village on November 6th and 9th and Aldo Shoes in the Champlain Mall in Dieppe between November 6th and 10th are asked to self monitor for symptoms.
Active cases stayed fairly steady elsewhere in the Atlantic bubble with Nova Scotia reporting 21, Newfoundland/Labrador 10, and PEI just four.
Numbers didn’t stay so steady in the rest of Canada as many provices reported daily records over the weekend as cases have grown to over 296-thousand with nearly 50-thousand active.

NB – HEALTH CONSULTATIONS
Health Minister Dorothy Shephard says healthcare reform consultations will begin soon and she hopes they will be wrapped up by the end of March.
Shephard’s comments come after mayors of communities that would have been effected by the scrapped plan to close ER’s overnight spoke out saying they have heard nothing on the promised consultations.
The Minister tells CBC they now have a framework in place, but there are some technical details that need to be worked out before a full announcement.
The move to close emergency rooms overnight in six communties including Sussex, Sackville, and Caraquet was met with public backlash and quickly nixed with Premier Higgs promising consultation.

NB – BAD SHOTS
After three patients experienced adverse effects to a flu shot, Public Heaht has decided to dispose of the remaining doses in the batch.
On Saturday a news release reported three adults who received the vaccine between October 2nd and 20th experienced sustained numbness or weakness in the face and limbs.
Public Health says a reaction of this kind is extremely rare and is encouraging people to continue getting the shot if they have not done so alreay.
The doses came out of a batch of 85-thousand and will now be destroyed. If you experience any reaction within 10-days of your vaccine you are asked to notify your doctor.

SJ/NB-Cyber-Attack
The City of Saint John has been hit by what it calls a ”significant” cyber attack.
It has shut down its information technology systems as a result. The 9-1-1 communication centre is said to operational, but many other online city services are off-line.
It’s not clear at this point if any personal information was taken in the attack. The City says it’s working to ”contain and eradicate” the virus and restore the systems.

NB – TRAVEL LOOSENING
Changes around international residents being able to visit ailing family members in New Brunswick during the pandemic is welcome news to many.
Department of Public Safety officials tells CBC the change aligns the provinces rules with what are currently in place by the federal government.
That rules says people from around the world can enter to visit immediate family members, which New Brunswick had previously limited to only residents of Canadian provinces and territories.
Visitors still need to apply and receive approval from the province’s travel registration program to be permitted entry.

ALL – TAM HOSPITALS
Because of the second wave surge across the rest of the country, Canada’s chief public health officer is out with a dire warning about rising COVID-19 cases stretching the health care system beyond capacity.
Dr. Theresa Tam says the situation is putting pressure on local health care resources and hospitals are being forced to make the difficult decision to cancel elective surgeries. She says the number of people with severe cases is increasing, with a daily average of more than 1,400 people who needed hospital treatment over the past week. Tam warns these numbers lag behind overall case increase figures by one to two weeks.
