NB power notice to Snowmobilers

Due to extremely high levels of snow in Northern Brunswick, snow banks in many areas are reaching levels which are only a few feet from high-voltage power lines.

NB Power has reviewed photos and video of snowmobiles going up banks of snow near power lines.

This is extremely dangerous as power can arc to the rider and the rider’s machine and cause injury or death.

There are also cases where guy wires and cables are buried under the snow and can cause serious injury to snowmobile riders.

NB Power reminds the public to stay clear of power lines – by at least 15 metres, the length of a school bus.

Your safety is of paramount importance to us. Be careful near our lines.

This has been a message from NB Power.
